Our last crush: a lattice guitar with a loud and natural sound. This lattice guitar No 62 is similar to the No 50 and No 48 and are the brand new models from Andreas Madimenos – Greece. The objective was to create a loud and highly musical guitar that could easily compete with Greg Smallman’s guitars. The least that we can say is that this No 50 is highly above many great concert lattice guitars. You should watch Philippe’s review and the comparison video that we made with a 2014 Greg Smallman guitar. The Greg Smallman’s guitars are huge guitars but the Madimenos is not so far.
This No 62 – like the No 50 and 48 – from 2022 is completely different from the one we had before. Andreas has changed the back and sides, the top thickness, implemented some balsa, plays with some carbon and put a big frame inside the guitar. The guitar puts on weight by more than one kilo. it is not a Greg Smallman’s copy but Andreas’ own lattice guitar design.
We have been blown away by the sound quality of his new guitar which surely will count among the next great concert guitars: warm tone, loud, thick trebles with a lot of tone colors. The playability is perfect and the craftsmanship is wonderful with high attention to detail. Last but not least, the guitar is available at a very reasonable price.
Andreas choosed some Pagos tuners from Italy to match the color of the rosette.
The guitar is beautiful with a lot of purflings and inlays. The guitar has a Shellac polish. Watch the review video if you want to be convinced by the quality.
Here are some technical specs on the guitar:
- Lattice braced with cedar top
- Balsa and carbon
- Pagos tuners
- Laminated back and sides with inside Venge and outside 2mm Cocobolo
- weight : 3,3 kg
