Constantin Dumitriu Nov. 2021 – lattice

These days they are may luthiers who are making Greg Smallman type guitars which means a heavy body with lattice braced. We have been blown away by Constantin Dumitriu’s lattice guitar. The guitar is very much inspired by the Greg Smallman concept but Constantin implemented some of his recipes. The sound is loud, warm, and well balanced. The guitar does not have the boxy sound in the bass that some bad lattice have. The playability is amazing.

Constantin is a very experienced luthier: he knows very well most of the great guitars and is very driven by innovation. He is mostly searching for a ‘natural/traditional’ warm sound and a great dynamic. He is very famous in Roumania and has 14 months of waiting time.

This guitar is very much inspired by the Greg Smallman guitar but Constantin has implemented some of his own recipes:

– The back of the guitar is not in laminated wood but in solid wood for a more woody sound
– the sides are braced exactly like the Dominique Field guitar to increase the loudness of the guitar

The guitar offers:

– a reflector to push the sound faster out of the guitar
– a soundport that can be closed
– extra C note
– 12-hole-tie block
– cedar top
– a magnificent Indian rosewood
