Once again a young very promising luthier from Milano Italy. Gerardo Centonze is making guitars inspired by the Torres but with a lot of dynamics and a long sustain. Here is a short bio of Gerardo.
Gerardo Centonze is born in 1986 in Taranto, Italy.
He approaches the craft of lutherie as a self-taught. In 2013, he enrolled at the Civic School of Lutherie of Milan where he learns the main building techniques of the family of plucked instruments. In 2017, he obtains the diploma of Master Luthier, under the guidance of the Masters Lorenzo Lippi, Federico Gabrielli and Gabriele Negri.
After completing his studies, he begins an internship with Maestro Mirko Borghino, deepening his skills also in the field of archtop and acoustic guitars.
In 2018, back in Milan, he consolidates his passion for classical guitar making by starting a long and relevant work experience in the laboratory of Maestro Lorenzo Lippi, thus being able to learn the different building approaches and refine his own technique. In 2018, he also establishes a laboratory in Milan where he starts the making of classical guitars and the restoration of ancient instruments. The building philosophy is inspired by the great Spanish school. Great attention is also paid to details, as it also emerges in the aesthetic choices, aimed at meeting a more contemporary taste. All the instruments are French polished.
