Here is a guitar that stands out for its volume and its ability to effortlessly fill a concert hall. Matthias Hennig is particularly interested in the unique beauty of the sound that results from the interplay between the wood, the construction and the craftsmanship. The guitar offers impressive tonal depth and sustain, worthy of today’s finest lattice guitars. The tonal character remains consistently traditional and elegant, with immediacy and consistency across all positions.

Here are some biographical details:
Matthias Hennig trained as a luthier from 1999 to 2004 under the renowned luthier Kolya Panhuyzen, nephew of the luthier Edgar Mönch. Prior to his training as a luthier, he completed an apprenticeship as a joiner and obtained two further master’s qualifications in technical trades. This versatile background in craftsmanship combines a deep understanding of wood as a material with technical expertise, precision and a keen sensitivity to the specific demands of instrument-making.
From 2008 onwards, Matthias Hennig built concert guitars in his own workshop and, from 2009 to 2015, he ran a luthier’s workshop in collaboration with Kolya Panhuyzen. During this period, he honed his craftsmanship and developed his own style, drawing heavily on the tonal and structural characteristics of Kolya Panhuyzen’s instrument-making.
Regular professional exchanges with eminent luthiers, including Sergei de Jonge, Maurice Ottiger and Sascha Nowak, broadened his horizons and enriched his understanding of the many possibilities offered by modern concert guitar making.
In 2016, Matthias Hennig finally realised his dream: to open his own workshop in Crete. It is in the exceptional setting of this Greek island that instruments continue to be crafted to this day, combining artisanal expertise, a rigorous selection of materials and research.
