Rinaldo Vacca 2025 No 348 torrefied spruce
This is an all-Italian lattice by a world-renowned master luthier building guitars with a pure traditional sound. For this guitar, Rinaldo has used a torrified spruce top that has undergone a high-temperature firing process in an oxygen-free environment to clean the wood of impurities and make the top stiffer, more stable, and lighter, giving it the sound of a 50+-year-old top. The back and sides are of Royal Blackwood (which is purple heart treated with ammonium gas, which penetrates the wood fibres and releases the tannin, turning it black). The torrefied spruce offers a sound with more immediacy and probably more power.
The result is purely fantastic, with loudness and thickness of sound with crystal clear tones. Look at the headstock, it’s a beauty. The Rinaldo Vacca guitars are built with a lattice bracing, using cedar instead of balsa, and without the use of carbon. The sides are three-ply, the back is two-ply maple laminate, and the neck is cedar or mahogany. The fingerboard is Blackwood teak. The varnish is acrylic varnish and Exagon tuners with a custom design.
Short Biography of Rinaldo Vacca: Rinaldo Vacca was born in Cabras (Sardinia) in 1960, he started building guitars in the late 80s. He began by building traditional guitars, then, faced with the need for guitarists to have a more sonorous instrument, he changed the method of construction. His goal is to build powerful guitars without losing tonal quality. Rinaldo is based in Cabras, Sardinia.
