Thomas Eichert lattice 2023 – Germany

We met Thomas Eichert at the last Koblenz guitar festival and we discovered that in the country of traditional and double-top guitars, there is one builder making lattice-braced guitars. Of course, his lattice guitars are not like the Australian heavy lattice but they provide however a strong and solid voice with a warm tone. The sound a pretty traditional but with a great dynamic which allows a lot of freedom for the player. The look is definitely modern and classy with sophisticated marquetry and plenty of elegant inlays. The rose and the headstock are simply magnificent.

Here is how Thomas describes his guitar: “a powerful sound, warm singing trebles, quick attack, excellent selectivity, in short: everything you need to fill a concert hall with its sound. I only use air-dried wood that is at least ten years old, some even 20 or more. Like a membrane, the soundboard must be able to amplify and radiate the vibrations of the strings in a balanced way. For this purpose, the top is worked to different thicknesses depending on the type of wood and strength and stiffened with a bracing inside to withstand the tension of the strings.”
