Whereas usually double-top German guitars are offering a rather warm sound using cedar, Andreas Kirschner double-top classical guitars are much different and unique : double-tops usually produce a round and warm sound with a huge projection and less sustain: Andreas Spruce/Spruce double-top offers wonderful complexity with a full range of tone colour, the string separation is unique and the basses remains dark and round.
The guitar has a spruce colour but with the warmness of the double-top. The playability is great, he loudness impressive. The guitar is overall very light and do not have the voice which characterizes some double-tops.
Spruce in many ways is the ideal wood for a double top having generally more clarity and much better string separation than cedar. Spruce is the solution for those who complain about the extreme darkness of some double-top (mostly the early ones). Among the builders using spruce for their double-tops, there are Gernot Wagner, and Matthias Dammann as well.
In terms of volume, the spruce does not bring additional power but because of the great string separation, one has the feeling, listening to the guitar one notices that there is more volume. Big fans of Spruce will find their dream guitar with the Andreas Kirschner double-tops
Back and sides are made of Indian rosewood, well matured timber. All shellac French-polished. The spruce of the top is seasoned at least 15 years and has also a French-polish. The tone is very rich and combined with clarity.
