François Léonard is a French builder who is making ‘traditional’ lattice guitars. He is aiming first at building guitars with a sound and a tone color in line with the French lutherie school: which means traditional sound rather clear like the Friederich with some dynamics. To achieve this target his guitar are including a lattice braced top with no balsa and no carbon on a solid body. As a result a loud guitar which remains very traditional in sound which is offering the player a lot of musical possibilities. Lots of pleasure.

The sound of this instrument has a lot of charm and elegance. The tone is round and mellow with a great richness. It is a very balanced guitar with a remarkable sustain and great playability and power as well..

That is definitely a modern take of the French traditional guitar. Even if this guitar is very different from the Australian lattice concept we have classified this guitar as being both in the traditional and lattice section. The art of the luthier is not to be dependant of the technology but to use the technology to achieve the sound image that he is dreaming of.
