This n°70 semi-concert classical guitar from the luthier Graham caldersmith has been made for players who always wanted to have a true Caldersmith concert classical guitar but who didn’t have the chance to be fortunate enough. There are some slight construction differences such as for instance a flat back instead of an arched back, but the sound qualities remain at a very high level. An incredible classical guitar with a big voice and warm and creamy trebles and lots of medium at a lower price.
A concert classical guitar with all the quality of the Caldersmith classical guitars made accessible!
A surprising classical guitar despite its price which offers all the sound qualities of the concert classical guitar of Graham: creamy trebles, warmness, big powerful basses, everything is there. Sometimes ago some players asked us to present the classical guitars without mentioning the price and the name of the luthier, guess what: the semi concert was among the last 3 guitars.
So what do differentiate the semi-concert from the concert classical guitar of Graham: the concert guitar just offers a little bit more of power and sustain.
We specially like the mix between red cedar and Australian Sassafrass a great look!
Here is some information borrowed from Graham website:
‘All tops are made from Western Red Cedar or King William Pine incorporating rosettes in the original Caldersmith style. The soundboard is reinforced with a graded rectangular lattice of western red cedar instead of balsa/carbon fibre. This gives a somewhat different sound from the carbon fibre guitars while retaining good projection and sustain.
Other features of the ‘Grange’ guitars include:
- Lighter 15mm ply frame.
- 1.5mm thick soundboard.
- Double acting trussrod.
- Tapered fingerboard to the bass side.
The grange design has also proven particularly effective for the higher range treble and octave guitars.’
