Very rare: a cedar top Concert model from Hideo Sato! The Concert model is similar to the Prestige model but with Indian rosewood. The cedar brings a lot of overtones and a strong dynamics. The guitar is a traditional braced guitar but it is not that much traditional (the bracing is a pure invention from the Sato Family) and to us the sound is much closer in volume to a double-top or a lattice guitar. The tone colors are thus very traditional but with huge dynamics. The sound is very close to the ones of Kazuo Sato (his father) but with a little bit more dynamic. It is a dream guitar!
M. Hideo and Kazuo Sato are some of the most famous luthiers making traditional guitars. Hideo is the son of Kazuo and shares the same workshop as his father. His guitars are very close to Kazuo’s guitars: same woods, same tools, same designs, and same overall tone colors. The family Sato lives in Germany since 1976. Before Kazuo, his father worked in England with the Luthier David Rubio. His guitars are famous for their exquisite craftsmanship and for the high-sounding quality.
If the Sato family’s guitars had been compared to the other famous luthiers, his name would be mentioned with those of Daniel Friederich, Andreas Tacchi or Romanillos.
Hideo’s guitars compared to his father’s guitars are slightly louder and offer a crystal-clear sound.
We made for you a small interview of Hideo…
