France is renowned for its school of traditional guitar making, with great masters such as Bouchet, Friederich and Field. Jérémie Geffroy is part of a young generation of innovative luthiers who combine the know-how of the French school of guitar-making with new approaches. The work of Australian luthier Simon Marty inspires Jérémie Geffroy’s guitars. They share many visual and internal elements, such as the famous radial bracing (star-shaped bracing around the bridge). The result is a stunningly beautiful sound. The craftsmanship is exceptional and the playability is impressive.

Jérémie Geffroy has been producing guitars of exceptional quality for many years now. After his Nomex double tops, we’re now discovering guitars with a ‘Simon Marty’-style radial bracing.
A look back at guitars with radial bracing. The inventors of the radial bracing guitar concept are well-known Australian luthiers Simon Marty and Robin Moyes. More than just a bracing system, it’s a manufacturing concept whose aim is to use a star-shaped bracing system around the bridge to produce a thick, crystalline sound with a traditional colour far removed from the sound of double tops and lattice tops. Generally speaking, the tops are thicker, the star-shaped bracing in balsa or wood is enhanced with a little carbon, the backs and sides are reinforced to concentrate the effects of the vibration on the top and the bridge is sculpted to make it as light as possible. Luthiers who follow this school include Simon Marty, Robin Moyes in Australia, Hiroyasu Asakura in Japan and Jérémie Geffroy in France.
Jérémie’s 2025 guitar boasts first-rate lutherie in terms of wood selection and craftsmanship. The sound is full-bodied and fairly clear, with a nice thickness that gives the guitarist a great deal of expressiveness. The sustain is longer than that of a double-top, and the pure tone is a far cry from that of some lattice guitars.  Importantly, it’s remarkably easy to play.
The wood used is Wenge or Congo rosewood, which is a heavy wood with a density of 830 kg/m3 comparable to that of Rio rosewood.
