Jose Ramirez 1a Especial 2005 – perfect condition –

For once a Ramirez 1a Especial guitar! This model Especial is derived from the Traditional 1a model  – just the sides are not doubled like on the traditional model -. As a result, the basses are not as ‘nasal’ sounding (which is typical of the 1a model)  and the trebles are very similar. The overall loudness is the same. Very important: the string length is 65 cm and the condition close to new.

The Ramirez 1a Especial model was conceived by the late José Ramirez IV for those looking for a more modern sound with a less robust bass than the original Ramirez 1a (now called the 1a Traditional, or in the Spanish spelling 1a Tradicional).

Offering a very nicely balanced tone, the Ramirez 1a Especial is still nearly as loud as the Ramirez 1a Tradicional. The primary difference is that the Especial’s sides are solid rosewood instead of the Tradicional’s interior cedar lining. Both use Indian Rosewood for the back, sides, bridge and headplate, Red Cedar for the tops, Spanish Cedar for the neck with Ebony for the fingerboard. The nut and saddle are bone and standard Lyre tuners are at the headstock.

The Especial differs from the Tradicional model where it has all solid Rosewood sides that match the back whereas the Tradicional has a Cypress lining on the sides on the top half only.

This Especial 1a has like the traditional model a premium red cedar top and beautiful bookmatched Indian rosewood back and sides. The cedar neck is topped with an ebony fretboard and a bone nut and has a strip of ebony for structural reinforcement. The traditional slotted headstock is faced with Indian rosewood and is fitted with engraved exposed gear gold tuners with ivoroid buttons. The rosette is a mosaic of red roses entwined by green stems. The rosewood bridge features a bone saddle and a bone bordered harness for securing the string ends.
