Here’s our latest discovery: Julien Garcia, a luthier from the Cantal region of France who makes guitars with an all-wood lattice bracing that perfectly combines power and tradition. Every element of the luthier’s work has been designed to increase the instrument’s power while preserving its sonority – a domed top, reinforced sides, and an all-wood lattice bracing. We discovered Julien Garcia’s guitars at the recent Paris Guitar Festival. The first impression was one of power and sound quality, a very traditional sound. Julien, who is himself a guitarist, took the gamble that it was possible to make a powerful guitar without losing the sound colour that has made French lutherie famous.
To achieve this, all the components have been carefully thought out:
– a curved / arched top to amplify the sound resonance
– reinforced ribs to harden the sides and concentrate energy on the soundboard
– a fairly wide all-wood lattice bracing
– an interior varnish
– a fingerboard with a compound radius
– cellulose varnish
– Alessi tuners
The result is a guitar that’s as musical as you want it to be, that ‘responds’ to every demand, and that’s elegantly crafted.
Without doubt, a guitar not to be missed.
