We had the chance last year to have a lattice guitar from Max. This year we have received a wonderful Doubletop guitar. Max Cuker DT is very different from the usual German DT guitars. The guitar is very light, with a top made of 2 slices of cedar (not 3 slices like the regular DT). For the back and sides, Max took an attractive set of Padauk. The sound is big and very direct with a very natural tone!
The cedar brings to the guitar a warm tone and the DT and the light body a very direct dynamic which brings a lot of pleasure to the player.
The guitar is much closer to a traditional guitar and from a DT. Max is builder with a string personality and the design of the guitar and the wood selection are one of a kind.
Here are some spec of the guitar :
- Weight : 1,8 kg
- Back and sides doubled are in Padauk wood
- Top is made of 2 slices of cedar
- Neck in Mahogany
- Bindings, armrest, and head plate in Zebrano – Microberlinia brazzavillensis
- Fingerboard in Ziricote
- Bridge : cocobolo
- Elevated fingerboard with a 20th extra fret
- Slot-head
- Grandtune tuners from Schaller

Max is a guitar player and as well a luthier. He makes traditional, lattice and double top guitars and is based in Vilnius Lithuania. He is mostly a self-taught luthier and is focusing most of his research on sound quality. Not surprising that GFA winner Anton Baranov and Tali Roth professor that the New York Julliard college have chosen his guitar.
