Luthier Carsten Kobs has been building classical guitars since 1991 and double-tops since 2008. His instruments are in the pure German tradition of double tops. What’s striking is the lightness of the classical guitar – you can hardly feel the instrument once it’s put down. Then there’s the super-powerful bass that fleshes out the musical discourse, the precision of the treble with a hint of brilliance, and finally the immediacy of the sound that bursts from the instrument.
